Joe Stelzer graduated in 1988 with a triple degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering with Computer Science from University College London. Harnesssing these technical skills, he built up three parallel businesses organically and through acquisition in the areas of nanotechnolgy, energy control/management and software distribution. The businesses were IPO'd in 2004 as Polaron plc. In 2008, the business was sold to the then Fortune 500 US business Cooper Industries. Joe became Global Head of Cooper's Energy Controls businesss and was responsible for both day to day operations, creating a US business from scratch and acquiring other businesses in the controls space.
In 2010, Joe decided to change career and became a technology partner at Cavendish Corporate Finance, the M&A boutique that advised Polaron on its sale. He became Chief Operating Officer in 2011 and Managing Partner in 2013. Under his leadership, Cavendish grew significantly and strengthed its position to be one of the UK's leading independent M&A firms. In 2018 Joe was tasked with providing a liquidity event for the Cavendish partners which resulted in the sale of Cavendish to Finncap plc in December 2018.
Whilst at Cavendish, apart from being responsible for the day to day management of the firm, Joe originated and led several transactions across software, industrial technology, financial services, chemicals, aviation, consumer and business to business sectors.
